An American comedy directed by Adam Rifkin, starring Edward Furlong, Natasha Lyonne and Lin Shaye.
A high school boy and his friends want to see a KISS concert, but his mother finds the tickets, destroys them and leaves him at a religious school. The friends win tickets on a radio call in and have to rescue their friend.
I'm not sure that I even liked this when it first came out. There was something annoying about it that is hard to put a finger on. There are also plenty of funny scenes. My favorite is the priest eating psilocybin mushroom pizza. KISS was not exactly controversial or provocative because of music. They were just popular and well known. Queen played heavier and earlier. By the date in the setting of this film (1978), Motorhead would be around and playing much heavier. They didn't wear makeup or sell the wide variety of merchandise though. I rate this film tolerable.
In ancient Egyptian mythology, a dead person's soul would be weighed against the feather of truth in a ritual called a psychostasy. If their soul was lighter than the feather, it would ascend into the afterlife. Heavy souls were devoured by Maat, eater of the dead. Good films go to hard drive heaven while the recycle bin eats the rest.

Pecker (1998)
An American comedy written and directed by John Waters, starring Edward Furlong, Christina Ricci, Mary Kay Place, Martha Plimpton, Brendan Sexton III, Mink Stole and Lili Taylor.
A young photographer in Baltimore Maryland is discovered by a New York City art dealer. His show is a success, but it causes problems for his friends and family because the photos provide a deep view into their lives.
I had gotten so tired of the "high art" films with hidden meanings and lofty ideals. It's good to watch a plain American comedy after all of that snobbishness. The plot held my attention very well and the characters were interesting. I even thought some parts were funny. A good example is the clothing store woman catching the photographer and shoplifter pair and forcing a "pecker picture". I rate this good because it's a very sincere and unpretentious comedy. I recommend it if you have gotten into a similar situation with watching films like I have.

American History X (1998)

A drama directed by Tony Kaye, starring Edward Furlong.
A young man's racist father is killed by a black man and the son starts an neo-nazi gang. The younger brother idolizes his older sibling even after he kills 2 men and goes to jail. While in jail, the older brother changes his opinion on some matters and when he gets out, he is dismayed to find that his younger brother still holds the same view on these issues.
This movie is absolutely epic. Some of it is told in flash-backs which are in black and white, while the present is in color. This movie includes Fairuza Balk as Derek's girlfriend, who I think is hot partially because she looks like my first girlfriend. The plot and characters are the main attraction here and the awesome style is just there to back them up. I'm rating this awesome.
