The Medicine Man (1930)

An American drama directed by Scott Pembroke, starring Jack Benny.
The son and daughter of an abusive shopkeeper escape his clutches with the help of a man from a travelling show.
This sounded like it was recorded inside a metal trash can and looked worse. There were editing mistakes, video artifacts, dead air hiss and crackling pops. The plot was extremely simplistic with minimal characters of very little depth. Although a technical disaster, it did not hurt to watch quite as much as some films with better production. The card game trickery, boy looking for busted boxes of candy and happy ending were high points if there were any. I'll be really nice and rate it poor.

Reaching For the Moon (1930)

An American romantic comedy directed by Edmund Goulding, starring Douglas Fairbanks.
A rich man goes on the same cruise as the woman who he is interested in. He is coached by his valet who makes a love potion for him which is sampled by too many people.
The plot was nearly non-existant and didn't make sense. The editing was extremely sloppy to the point of a character teleporting into a scene. We all know how I feel about harsh and treble-biased audio with lots of dead air hiss. There was one scene in which Fairbanks performed acrobatic stunts (pictured) and it was the only good part of the film. Technically a disaster, I have to rate this bad for being so poorly made.

Hell's Angels (1930)

A war film directed by Howard Hughes, James Whale and Edmund Goulding.
Two brothers drink, compete for women and fight in the first world war.
This was a long and boring waste of time. The best part was when the German blimp had to shed some weight and started tossing soldiers overboard. Other than that, it's a very bad idea to watch this. The only reason that I'm not declaring shite is that the women are ABSOLUTE SCORCHERS! Therefore, bad. Don't watch.
