An American western directed by Howard Higgin and Bert Gilroy, starring William Boyd, Helen Twelvetrees and Clark Gable.
Two cowboys find a baby in the desert and begin a lifelong feud by aruing over the child's name and caretaker. Years later, the baby has grown to a man and the feud is still on.
This was prehistoric, boring and poorly made. The acting was horrid, with most folks "announcing" their lines. The plot was dull and not clearly communicated. I won't talk crap about the audio and video because of the early date, but let's just say I did not find them amusing. The lack of non-diagetic music also hampered enjoyment of this film. I rate it shit because I turned it off at 42 minutes.
In ancient Egyptian mythology, a dead person's soul would be weighed against the feather of truth in a ritual called a psychostasy. If their soul was lighter than the feather, it would ascend into the afterlife. Heavy souls were devoured by Maat, eater of the dead. Good films go to hard drive heaven while the recycle bin eats the rest.

East of Borneo (1931)
An American adventure film directed by George Melford.
A woman goes looking for her lost husband in the jungle. Indebted to the prince who saved his life, the husband is the prince's personal doctor and has developed an alcohol addiction. The prince wishes to marry the wife and conflict ensues.
Am I to go easy on it because it's an old movie and made using the limited technology of that era? No. They could have at least focused their camera because the whole film was blurry and it was very difficult to see what was happening. Their audio equipment wasn't great, but that doesn't mean they had to include so much dead air. In the raft-to-the-jungle scene, the oarsmen were chanting something extremely annoying. Due to these technical issues, discernment of the plot and characters suffered greatly. What I could see and hear was alright at best and shouldn't have taken so much time to communicate. Yes, I'm rating another one bad.

City Lights (1931)

A comedy by Charlie Chaplin.
A hobo saves the life of a rich manwho becomes his friend, but doesn't remember unless he's drunk. The hobo also falls in love with a blind flower girl.
This wasn't quite as good as Modern Times, but it was still in the same style. The plot and characters were good and there was no dialogue, but a minimum of text screens. I really don't know what to write for this, so I'm just rating it o.k.

The Public Enemy (1931)

A crime film directed by William A. Wellman, starring James Cagney and Jean Harlow.
A young man rises through the ranks of a gang during prohibition.
Gangster flicks are cool, but this one was unimpressive. The plot was muddy and the characters weren't developed very well. It's not bad, just another regular gangster movie. I'm rating it o.k.

Frankenstein (1931)

A horror directed by James Whale, starring Boris Karloff.
A scientist steals dead people and a brain to reanimate. When his plan works, the resulting creation can't be controlled.
This was in black and white on fullscreen. It reminded me of old Twilight Zone episodes. At least it was short, so I'm rating it poor because it's not really worth watching.
