The Sundowners A.K.A, Thunder in the Dust (1950)

An American western directed by George Templeton.
Assholes argue with eachother over land and murder.
I got to 56 minutes and had to turn it off for lacking plot. Seriously, who wants to watch arguments for an hour and 23 minutes? There is another Sundowners movie from 1960 that was nominated for a plethora of Academy Awards. This is obviously not that film. I rate this shit because I had to turn it off. DO NOT WATCH!

The Great Rupert (1950)

An American drama directed by Irving Pichel, starring Jimmy Durante.
A circus performer with a trained squirrel is evicted from his apartment and lets the squirrel go in a park nearby. The squirrel returns to the apartment and lives in the rafters. A new family moves into the apartment and the landlord upstairs starts getting money every week. He hides the money behind a floorboard and the squrrel ejects it into the apartment.
This film is listed as a comedy, but I don't see what's so funny. The stop motion animation for the squrrel really got my attention, but the rest of the film was rather lackluster. The plot and characters were clearly communicated and the style was typical of the time. I found the pacing to be extremely slow and thought there was too much filler. I rate it o.k. because of the stop motion squirrel. I would recommend finding a short clip of the squirrel and skipping the movie.

Prehistoric Women (1950)

An American adventure film directed by Gregg C. Tallas.
A tribe of feminists capture husbands in order to reproduce. One of these men escapes, discovers fire and helps the tribe so much that he and his fellow men are accepted into the tribe.
The narration was spread on so heavily and was so "grade school instructional film" lame that it almost caused physical pain. It definitely hurt the film. There were also some sections in which the screen turned completely black, but sound effects and narration continued. That's 2 strikes against a film that already isn't too great. It wasn't even "so bad it's good", but may be watchable if you like to mock old movies. Since that is all it's good for, I rate it poor.

Rashomon (1950)

An action film directed by Akira Kurosawa.
3 men seek shelter from the rain in some ruins. While they are there, they share conflicting versions of a story involving a husband and wife being attacked by a bandit.
Akira Kurosawa is proven to be the sensei of samurai cinema. This story was about who was lying to whom about what facts. Any way the story went, the husband's dead body was found in the end. The 3 men in the ruins argue about if there is any goodness in man or if the demon that haunts the ruins has been driven away in fear of humanity. I thought this was an awesome movie and would recommend it to anyone who likes classic cinema.
