Sorry to Bother You (2018)

An American science fiction black comedy directed by Boots Riley, starring Terry Crews, Patton Oswalt, David Cross and Danny Glover.
A black man working as a telemarketer learns to use his "white voice" and becomes successful. This distances him from his old friends who were unsuccessful or protesting against the company that he works for. Finally reaching the top of the corporate ladder, he learns a dark secret about the company.
Amazing! Being white and going to see this with a black friend lead to an interesting discussion afterward. He saw a movie about racial issues and I saw a movie about financial and societal class issues. Either way, the plot was thought provoking and the production quality was great. To elaborate on this, the dynamic plot begins as a regular comedy, turns to black/dark comedy and then to science fiction. The main character and his relationships change as the film develops as well. According to Wikipedia, the "white voice" for black characters was performed by a different person and lip synched. I would recommend this for those who question accepted societal value systems. I rate it awesome for being unique, thoughtful and entertaining.

The Royal Tenenbaums (2001)

An American black comedy drama directed by Wes Anderson, starring Owen Wilson, Gene Hackman, Anjelica Huston, Bill Murray, Ben Stiller, Luke Wilson and Danny Glover.
A rich family has problems. The absent dad returns pretends to be dying, a brother and sister are in love, etc...
This was very well-made. The plot was very complex and there were lots of characters. I tried to keep up, but I may have to watch it a few times to really understand everything. The video style is standard Wes Anderson awesomeness and the soundtrack is even better than the last few films I watched. My favorite scene was the grandfather - grandsons mischief montage. It must have been very fun to make. Pacing is slow, but an hour 49 is a tad on the long side. Overall, this was fun to watch and I liked it. I will be watching it again soon. I rate this best for prompting repeat viewing. Not many films can make me want to see them again. It's really something special when that happens. WATCH THIS!!!!!

The Rainmaker (1997)

An American courtroom drama directed by Francis Ford Coppola, starring Matt Damon, Danny DeVito, Danny Glover, Jon Voight, Mickey Rourke and Virginia Madsen.
A new lawyer takes a difficult case involving health insurance.
I don't like watching games of Lawyers & Lawsuits. The plot does not interest me and I don't care what happens to the characters. Everything made sense and the characters were acted decently. The camera-work was nothing to write home about and the slow pacing made this seem longer than it actually was. Overall, I was not interested. I rate this poor.

Age of the Dragons (2011)

A fantasy directed by Ryan Little, starring Danny Glover.
A harpooner and his friend join a team of people hunting dragons.
This is Moby Dick on land, with dragons. In the beginning, they act like they're getting on a boat, but it's a primitive APC with wooden wheels. One of the fight scenes between 2 of the men has like 20-30 shots in it, which is horrible. That's the kind of camera-work that I call Hollywood bullshit. The dragons would have been cool if they had made more appearances in the film. This isn't the '80s and bad films aren't good anymore. I'm rating this bad.

Predator series (1987, 1990 & 2010)

A science fiction directed by John McTiernan, Stephen Hopkins and Nimrod Antal, starring Adrien Brody, Danny Trejo, Danny Glover, Gary Busey, Jesse Ventura and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
A hostile alien comes to earth to make trophies of human skulls. A lone warrior must do battle with this hostile life form.
The first film with Schwarzenegger is the best, but the others aren't too bad. There is a lot of action, violence and special effects. The differing styles of the films reflect the style of the time period in which they were made very well. I'm rating this series adequate. It's rating suffered the most from the 1990 film.
