Tin Men (1987)

An American comedy drama directed by Barry Levinson, starring Richard Dreyfuss, Danny DeVito and Barbara Hershey.
Aluminum siding salesmen get into a car accident that begins a feud between them. One of them goes as far as stealing the other man's wife in revenge. A home improvement commission is also evaluating their sales techniques, which are mostly hustling, lying and cheating.
Pretty normal flick. The plot held my attention and I think it was written well, with twists at the appropriate times. The characters were acted and cast well and the dialogue seemed natural. My favorite video scene was Danny DeVito smashing the windows of his enemy's car. They used fast editing to get a series of climactic moments of glass breaking. The ending shot was framed very well, but I won't spoil it. There was also a repeated shot showing the back ends of a row of Cadillacs at the aluminum siding office. The audio was decent. I could hear all of the dialogue and it was accompanied by '60s music to complete the setting. I believe that the video of musicians playing was actually real, a very rare thing in movies. Overall, a regular flick with some positive aspects in production categories. I rate it adequate.

The Rainmaker (1997)

An American courtroom drama directed by Francis Ford Coppola, starring Matt Damon, Danny DeVito, Danny Glover, Jon Voight, Mickey Rourke and Virginia Madsen.
A new lawyer takes a difficult case involving health insurance.
I don't like watching games of Lawyers & Lawsuits. The plot does not interest me and I don't care what happens to the characters. Everything made sense and the characters were acted decently. The camera-work was nothing to write home about and the slow pacing made this seem longer than it actually was. Overall, I was not interested. I rate this poor.

The Virgin Suicides (1999)

An American drama directed by Sofia Coppola, starring James Woods, Kathleen Turner, Kirsten Dunst and Danny DeVito.
Boys from school chase after a group of sisters with strict parents.
I felt like this whole film was leading up to something that never happened. It seemed like all beginning with very little middle and no ending. The plot held my interest and I kind of cared what happened with the characters. The camera-work was really good. At times, it was noticeable in a good way and at others, invisible as the story came through. The pacing seemed rather slow to me. Overall, it was really weird for such tame subject matter. I'm giving this a strange pink rating for being so far out there in such an odd way. I don't know what to think about it.

Renaissance Man (1994)

A comedy directed by Penny Marshall, starring Danny DeVito.
An out of work advertising professional goes to work for the army to teach their less intelligent recruits.
This is another one of those "teacher with a class of retards" flicks. I'm really getting tired of that same plot being recycled, but I actually enjoyed the movie. there was a range of emotion portrayed, from funny to sad and the characters faced obstacles and problems with varying levels of success. I'm giving it adequate because it's a classic 90s film.
