Jennifer 8 (1992)

An American mystery directed by Bruce Robinson, starring Andy Garcia, Uma Thurman, Lance Henriksen, Kathy Baker and John Malkovich.
A cop is trying to catch a serial killer. A blind girl who "witnessed" the man before his last killing is questioned and falls in love with the cop.
Terrible, horrible and atrocious. The plot was desultory in it's mimicry of other cop flicks. The characters were unconvincing and the acting was poor at best. The bald police detective who questions the "loose cannon" cop had a cold in one scene! The video led me to think that this was newer than the date would indicate because of close shots, underexposure and fast editing. We do, however, get a split-second, underexposed glimpse of Uma Thurman's boobs. The audio was even worse. Dialogue volume and importance of the lines delivered had an inverse relationship. That is to say, the more important the dialogue, the lower the volume. Andy Garcia's shouting also became incoherent at times. The soundtrack music seemed to fit well though. Overall, poor production value and lack of originality make this torture to watch. I rate it bad. DO NOT WATCH!!!

In the Line of Fire (1993)

An American action thriller directed by Wolfgang Petersen, starring Clint Eastwood and John Malkovich.
A secret service agent is on the case of a man who threatens to kill the president.
This was the beginning of the end for Clint Eastwood's acting career. He plays the "loose cannon" cop/detective. The only other character worth mentioning is his (way too young for him) romantic interest. They both piss each other off and end up liking it. The plot was boring to me and drawn out over two hours made it seem like it would last forever. Video was of good quality, but the camera-work and editing were nothing to brag about. The audio was similar. I could hear everything and it was mixed well. It just didn't float my boat. I turned it off at about 45 minutes because I had watched it about 7 or 8 years ago and didn't need to see it again to remember how bad it was. In accordance with my turn off policy, I rate this shit. DO NOT WATCH!!!

Shadow of the Vampire (2000)

A horror directed by E. Elias Merhige, starring John Malkovich and Willem Dafoe.
A group of men are making a vampire movie when they discover that their fake vampire is real.
The plot and characters were a little predictable, as they were pretending to be making a film that I've already seen. The style fit the film very well and the production value was good. Willem Dafoe did a good job as Count Orlok and I liked how John Malkovich directed his actors when they were filming scenes. However, the whole thing was a little on the boring side. I'm rating it adequate.

The Libertine (2004)

A drama directed by Laurence Dunmore, starring Johnny Depp and John Malkovich.
A noble finds a crappy actress and teaches her to be good.
The whole thing was boring to me. All of the film elements that I discuss were mediocre. There was also that "new movie" deal of being "way too perfect". This can slide in among many other films as being o.k.

Dangerous Liaisons (1988)

A drama directed by Stephen Frears, starring Glenn Close, John Malkovich, Michelle Pfeiffer, Keanu Reeves and Uma Thurman.
Rich nobles have affairs with eachother.
I found this whole thing to be entirely too boring. I don't really care who's sleeping with who and who is angry about it. The whole nobility etiquette thing takes the emotion out of any film. There was some nudity and implied sex, but not enough to redeem this boring flick. I'm rating it bad.
