In the Line of Fire (1993)

An American action thriller directed by Wolfgang Petersen, starring Clint Eastwood and John Malkovich.
A secret service agent is on the case of a man who threatens to kill the president.
This was the beginning of the end for Clint Eastwood's acting career. He plays the "loose cannon" cop/detective. The only other character worth mentioning is his (way too young for him) romantic interest. They both piss each other off and end up liking it. The plot was boring to me and drawn out over two hours made it seem like it would last forever. Video was of good quality, but the camera-work and editing were nothing to brag about. The audio was similar. I could hear everything and it was mixed well. It just didn't float my boat. I turned it off at about 45 minutes because I had watched it about 7 or 8 years ago and didn't need to see it again to remember how bad it was. In accordance with my turn off policy, I rate this shit. DO NOT WATCH!!!

For a Few Dollars More A.K.A. Per qualche dollaro in più (1965)

An Italian Spanish West German spaghetti western directed by Sergio Leone, starring Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef, Gian Maria Volonte and  Klaus Kinski.
A pair of bounty hunters form a partnership to defeat a gang of bandits who rob a bank.
This was somewhat less than wonderful. The plot did not hold my attention. I thought most of it was filler that buried the real story. The characters were fine, but not exactly original. I've seen Clint Eastwood play that same role in that same costume too many times. The video was very Leone, featuring eye line matching on extreme close-ups and pull-back crane shots. The soundtrack was probably my favorite part. Ennio Morricone always does a great job in a predictable style. Overall, just another spaghetti western. I rate this adequate. It was decent, but nothing special.

A Fistful of Dollars A.K.A. Fistful of Dollars, Per un pugno di dollari (1964)

An Italian West German Spanish spaghetti western directed by Sergio Leone, starring Clint Eastwood and Gian Maria Volonte.
A lone cowboy enters a town controlled by two rival gangs. By working for both of them, he plays them against one another to their ultimate destruction.
This is Yojimbo (1961) with cowboys instead of samurais. The greatest appreciation of this can be gained by watching both films. Same goes for Seven Samurai (1954) and The Magnificent Seven (1960). They are all so good and the mirror images across the world are so similar that I can't decide if I like cowboys or samurais. The plot was good enough for a famous director to steal and get sued for, so it's good enough for me. The characters were stereotypical and undeveloped, except the main character. He was undeveloped, but showed more depth and was less stereotypical than the others. There was mystery surrounding him and his motives for his actions. The visual style featured extreme close-ups and long crane shots, which is common for Leone. The soundtrack for this is very memorable, like most of the spaghetti western genre. Being written by Ennio Morricone obviously played a large role in this. Overall, we've got a quality western with lots to type about. I rate it good.

The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976)

An American western directed by and starring Clint Eastwood.
A man's family is killed in the civil war. When the north wins, he refuses to surrender and begins running from or killing any men sent to track him down. He is first accompanied by a fellow soldier, but later befriends an old Indian chief, squaw and the remains of another family broken by war.
This was not too shabby. The plot was epic (not to mention the length: more EPIC!) and had tons of room for many characters to be well-developed. They were also memorable. To help things along, action scenes and gunfights break up the story drama at good intervals. There was lots of good camera-work showing beautiful outdoor scenes, but also some very bad camera-work. "Let's shoot in this log cabin with no lights!" The audio was good and subtitles were almost unnecessary, but appreciated. Overall, this is what I'm looking for in a solid green rating. A little bit long, but I'll let that slide. I rate this good. Watch it!

Flags of Our Fathers (2006)

A war film directed by Clint Eastwood.
A story about American soldiers who went to Vietnam is related.
I think I got about half way through this before turning it off. This is everything that I hate about war movies: it's just so boring! Somehow they even manage to make the battles boring too. Maybe I'm just not interested in war. Well, since I had to turn it off, I'm rating this shit.

Unforgiven (1992)

A western by Clint Eastwood, starring Gene Hackman and Morgan Freeman.
A retired outlaw gets back in the game after years of inactivity to do one last job.
A good western is a thing to be savored. The style reflected the violent myths of the wild west and the production value was very good. The characters were memorable and the plot was decent. Since I like good westerns, I'm rating this good.

Where Eagles Dare (1968)

A war film directed by Brian G. Hutton, starring Clint Eastwood.
A team of British soldiers goes into German territory during world war 2.
Boring! I don't care how hot "Hair Frown-line" is, she can't save this film from poor ratings here. The plot was as stereotypical as the characters and the style was absolutely dull. The only man who can make a fight with the Germans interesting is Indiana Jones, so I'm rating this poor.

Pale Rider (1985)

A western by Clint Eastwood.
A preacher arrives in a gold mining town and helps the people there so much that it seems they can't live without him.
Normally westerns get good reviews, but this one was a pointless piece of shit. All of the characters experience trauma, but overcome it with the help of the nameless stranger. The women fall in love with him. Nothing else happens. The only good part was when the stranger hits a hired thug in the nuts with a sledgehammer. At the end I found myself questioning why this film was ever made. I'm rating it bad for being pointless.

A Perfect World (1993)

A crime drama directed by Clint Eastwood.
A man who breaks out of jail takes a young boy as a hostage/partner in crime.
This film is from what I would call "the golden years of American cinema". The late 80s and early 90s had a lot of good movies! I noticed that every family that the traveling pair crosses paths with abused their children, while the relationship between the criminal and innocent child remained peaceful. I'm rating this one good because I really enjoyed watching it.

million dollar baby (2004)

an action drama written, directed, produced, scored and starring clint eastwood
clint trains a female boxer who rises through the ranks of boxing competitions.
the audio and video were great. I wouldn't change anything.
check out: what the leader of the church says to mr. eastwood. is that any way for a preacher to be talking?
the combination of morgan freeman and clint eastwood means there is a lot of "elderly male speaking in a gravely voice". all the narration is by morgan. I think these guys decided to use this technique to portray the rough boxing lifestyle and how tired they are. besides the "it's so tough to be a boxer" thing, this was good. it makes you feel like you really know the characters and the plot is engaging enough to take up the 2 hours. definitely watch it if you liked "the wrestler".
