Sleepy Hollow (1999)

A horror directed by Tim Burton, starring Johnny Depp.
A scientist goes to a town where people are being killed by beheading. He tries to find out who is behind these deaths and why.
When I was watching this, all I could think about was the old Disney short and the song from it. This version is way overdone, but what do you expect from Tim Burton? The plot was obviously extended and altered in nearly every way. The characters from the original story are in this film, but do not play the same roles. For butchering a classic, I rate this bad.

Edward Scissorhands (1990)

A science fiction directed by Tim Burton, starring Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder.
An inventor makes a man from scratch, but dies before completing his work. The man ends up with scissors for hands and a door to door sales-woman finds him. She takes him home and tries to indoctrinate him into "normal" society.
Let me begin by saying that this is one of my favorite films because of entertainment value. There are some quirks that I would like to point out. There is the idea of the anthropomorphizing machines and mechanizing humans. This is part of the new world order scam that's being pulled on us at every opportunity. They (the illuminati) want to put computer parts into human bodies to track us and control us. Stand by and watch and it will be so. Take action (like not buying into their crap and boycotting their companies) and we may have a chance of staying human. The location of the mountain with mansion on top is totally unbelievable because of it's proximity to the housing track. When the police are chasing Edward, they drive extremely slow, as if they did not mean to catch him, but to chase him away. This may be the case, as the cop says that he is worried about Edward and seems sympathetic to his problems. I do find that the pastel houses, clothes and cars were used in good taste to contrast the creepy mansion and leather-clad anti-hero. I will conclude by rating this good.

Pee-wee's Big Adventure (1985)

A comedy directed by Tim Burton, starring Paul Reubens.
A young man's bicycle is stolen and he tries to retrieve it.
This film has some style. I didn't know that Tim Burton directed until I just looked it up. Makes sense. I like the Rube Goldberg machines and the Twisted Sister video clip the most. It is a very simple film, but holds some sentimental value to me. I always remember my sister being afraid of large Marge. Hence, I'm rating it good.

James and the Giant Peach (1996)

A fantasy directed by Henry Selick, produced by Tim Burton, based on a book by Roald Dahl.
A boy who lives with his abusive aunts receives magical ingredients from an unidentified man. When the ingredients get on a tree, it grows a giant peach which the boy rides away on with some insect friends.
The plot was decent, but the characters were stereotypical. I liked the animation style and the pace was alright. I'm doing short reviews because I'm sick, so this one gets adequate.

Corpse Bride (2005)

An animated musical directed by Tim Burton and Mike Johnson.
At a wedding rehersal, the groom forgets his lines and goes to the forest to practice. When he says them right, he accidentally awakens the ghost of a bride who was murdered there and is transported to the land of the dead.
The animation was cool and the setting was good. I usually like Tim Burton stuff, so I'm rating it a worthy blue. If you like The Nightmare Before Christmas, you'll like this.

Beetle Juice (1988)

A comedy directed by Tim Burton.
A happily married couple die and come back as ghosts confined to their house. When a new family that they don't like moves into the house, they seek help any way they can get it.
The audio and video were good. Refer to my article on "Driving Miss Daisy" for my thoughts about the late 1980s in film quality and content.
check out: Suicides being civil servants in the afterlife.
This is one of my favorite movies. I've seen it many times and still like it. If you like classics from the late 80s or Tim Burton films, you will probably like this too.
The picture is not from the movie. I just saw it and thought it was too cool to pass up. My computer may have caught a virus while getting it, but for this picture, it's worth it.
