A science fiction comedy directed by Mike Nichols, starring John Goodman. On an all-male planet where people reproduce by cloning, the leaders decide to conquer earth. They equip a man with an artificial penis and send him on a mission to conceive a child. This was a little weird and I don't know if I liked it. The production value was totally "new movie too perfect", but the style was almost good. The plot and characters were only a little cheesy and predictable. The pacing made it seem like over 2 hours, but it was only 1 and 44 minutes. Thankfully, the humor avoided that goofy sexual innuendo and bathroom jokes territory that most comedies dive right into. Like I said, I don't know if I liked it, so I'm rating it curveball.
A fantasy directed by Mike Nichols, starring Jack Nicholson and Michelle Pfeiffer.A business man is bitten by a wolf and begins to change into a werewolf. Meanwhile, he has just met a woman and they are falling in love. The sound was terrible on the copy of this that I got. All of the characters were whispering so quietly that it looked like they were just mouthing the words. The plot and characters were a little cheesy. The special effects were also on the dairy side. The style was alright and the pacing was decent. Overall, it wasn't anything special. I'm rating it o.k.
A comedy directed by Mike Nichols, starring Robin Williams, Nathan Lane and Gene Hackman.A gay couple run a drag show club. One of the men's sons will soon be marrying a senator's daughter and the girl's family decides to have dinner with the boy's family. The funny part about this is Robin Williams playing himself (a gay man). The characters were good, but the plot was a little "sitcomish". I've said that I don't take points away for openly gay movies and with this film, that holds true. I'm rating it adequate.
a psychedelic mind effer directed by mike nicholsa young man graduates from college and has affairs with the wife and daughter of his father's business partner.the video had blips from the original film and was grainy, but everything looked fine otherwise. as for the audio, this is the earliest example of the whisper-blast technique that I've found. the plus side to this is that simon and garfunkel songs blast from the speakers at top volume.check out: the car scene at the end. if you've seen wayne's world 2, you'll finally get the joke.this has to be one of the most psychedelic movies I have ever seen. the way that it is presented really puts you in the mindset of the main character. obviously, I liked it and believe that it's a good idea to watch, especially if you've seen wayne's world 2.
