American action adventures directed by Steven Spielberg, starring Harrison Ford.
An archaeologist is trying to get the ark of the covenant before nazis do, rescue magic stones from a cult in India, searching for his father and the holy grail and returning a crystal skull to aliens before the soviets get it.
Pretty cool stuff. I like Temple of Doom the most because of the action scenes and comedic relief of Short Round. I think Indy gets beat up a little more in this than the others too. The rest are alright and fill out the story of the main character. One of the film classes I took cited Raiders of the Lost Ark as being filmed well. I can see them all being filmed well, with lots of planning to get timing right. This is one of the sets that I like to watch consecutively, just because of length. I rate it adequate because it all just blends together into a whole story to me and it's relatively good, but there are far better films.
In ancient Egyptian mythology, a dead person's soul would be weighed against the feather of truth in a ritual called a psychostasy. If their soul was lighter than the feather, it would ascend into the afterlife. Heavy souls were devoured by Maat, eater of the dead. Good films go to hard drive heaven while the recycle bin eats the rest.

Blade Runner 2049 (2017)
An American science fiction directed by Denis Villeneuve, starring Harrison Ford, Robin Wright and Jared Leto.
It is discovered that a replicant (android) has reproduced and the government has their best replicant-killer on the case.
This sucked. It sucked for 2 and a half hours! I didn't care about the plot because it didn't make me care. I even watched it twice because I thought I missed something important. The main characters were far too shallow to care about either. Most of the acting seemed fine, but the woman recruiting for the replicant army really blew it. I was trying to figure out if the government had put her up to asking the main character to join so they could bust him. It seemed like she was reading the script for the first time right then. Sets and costumes were really the only redeeming feature. Stuff looked great. Sure, it was probably mostly CG anyway. I was not impressed by the costumes though. Camera-work looked like a new, mainstream Hollywood film. There were lots of quick cuts and close-ups, without much else. I think there may have been a drone shot or few as well. Special effects looked like any kid with After Effects and enough time could have done them. It was like 90% layering and compositing. I did watch the original before I started this blog and the physical effects with real sets, props and models looked better. The orange filter when the main character meets Harrison ford was really annoying and the exaggerated waves on the wall at government headquarters looked cheesy. Audio actually seemed fine, but I have a compressor on, so it was probably standard of current trends in augmented dynamic volume levels. I'm not counting awards won/nominated because the list is too long. IMDb has an 8.1/10 rating listed and Rotten Tomatoes has 87% Tomatometer with 81% Audience Score for an average of 83%. I do not agree at all. For being a mainstream pile of CG that didn't come close to even trying to make me care about it, I rate this bad. DO NOT WATCH!

Air Force One (1997)
An American action film directed by Wolfgang Petersen, starring Harrison Ford, Gary Oldman and Paul Guilfoyle.
The president's airplane takes off from Russia and terrorists posing as a news video crew start using guns. The president is supposedly ejected in an escape pod, but stays on the plane to begin a sequence of events to save the hostages from the terrorists.
Propaganda, pure and simple. They didn't even try to make it believable. The U.S. has rarely had physically fit presidents and the only terrorists are the ones hired by our government. So the plot is all shot to shit. The characters were anonymous and shallow like extras. All of them. Even Harrison Ford as the president was underdeveloped. He's way better off as Indiana Jones. The video featured heavy and obvious use of special effects, compositing and CG to achieve the outside airplane scenes. The audio was actually pretty cool. It had a triumphant "America always wins" main theme in the soundtrack and I could hear what everyone was saying. When the only positive thing I can say about a film is about the audio, that qualifies as a bad rating. DO NOT WATCH!!!

The Conversation (1974)

A drama by Francis Ford Coppola, starring Gene Hackman, Robert Duvall and Harrison Ford.
A telephone spy does his job.
There was almost no plot and the characters were stereotypical. The stye was poor and so was the production value. It went by alright, so the pace was good. I'm rating it poor for being nothing but boring.
