A British American comedy directed by Michael Hoffman, written by Joel and Ethan Coen, starring Cameron Diaz and Alan Rickman.
A dissatisfied employee and an art forger set up a trick for the boss. They put a fake painting in a woman's house and have the boss try to buy it, thinking that it is real.
This was not too shabby. The Coen brothers know style and flavor. Their quick pacing and writing in character is awesome. The plot held my attention, I cared what happened to the characters and it was shot well. I'm having trouble finding flaws in this. The Coen brothers may be added to my list of folks who can do no wrong along with Alejandro Jodorowsky, Ralph Bakshi, Quentin Tarantino and Tony Jaa. If you're looking for high quality movies, this would be one to add to your list. I rate it good. Watch it!
In ancient Egyptian mythology, a dead person's soul would be weighed against the feather of truth in a ritual called a psychostasy. If their soul was lighter than the feather, it would ascend into the afterlife. Heavy souls were devoured by Maat, eater of the dead. Good films go to hard drive heaven while the recycle bin eats the rest.

Vanilla Sky (2001)

An American psychological thriller by Cameron Crowe, starring Tom Cruise, penelope cruz, Kurt Russell and Cameron Diaz.
A man gets in a car wreck after cheating on his girlfriend and after that, reality becomes distorted.
This was just plot and character crazy, but the style was "new movie too perfect" all the way through. I thought the plot was interesting, but not good. The characters were likewise. I'm rating this o.k. because it's just a regular, mass produced hollywood movie.

Very Bad Things (1998)

A black comedy directed by Peter Berg, starring Christian Slater and Cameron Diaz.
A group of friends celebrate a bachelor party in Las Vegas. They are having fun until one of them accidentally kills the stripper/prostitute.
This is one of the films that is mentioned when people talk about crazy and good movies. The plot, characters and production value are absolutely great. The film really comes off as unique and has it's own "flavor". The violence is not over-done and most of the tension is created through the plot. This is another film with mostly upset characters. Apparently, conflict (supposedly essential to plot) must be between the characters themselves. There are many types of conflict:
Character vs. Character (shown here)
Character vs. Self (shown here)
Character vs. Nature
Character vs. Society
Character vs. Supernatural
Character vs. Technology
Character vs. Destiny
I would really like to see some variety in this plot element, given the wide range of choices. However, a good film is a good film and I'm rating this awesome.
