Every Thing Will Be Fine (2015)

A German French Swedish Norwegian Canadian American drama directed by Wim Wenders, starring Charlotte Gainsbourg, James Franco, Patrick Bauchau and Peter Stormare.
A man kills 1 of a pair of brothers in a car accident during a snow storm. He is depressed, but eventually becomes a successful writer. He offers to help the mother of the boys and they talk a little bit. When the surviving brother is 16 years old, he meets the writer.
This was worse than Turkish Star Wars (1982) because Wim Wenders is a good director and I was expecting something to happen. At the end of almost 2 hours, the credits rolled and there had been nothing going on since about 14 minutes in. Charlotte Gainsbourg is good at acting and I haven't seen her in any happy or boring roles. When the writer was looking outside, trying to figure out who broke into his house, she should have been there with weapons. At least Turkish Star Wars was known to be bad and had something happening. This had good people on the filmmaking team and nothing happened. I rate this shit because mediocrity should be punished more than lack of quality. I would rather watch a movie that is interesting because it's so bad than be bored by mediocrity.

Alice in the Cities (1974)

A drama by Wim Wenders.
A man meets a woman and her daughter at an airport because they both want to go to the same place. They share a hotel room and the man takes the daughter sight-seeing in the morning. While they are gone, the mother leaves and the man is stuck with the little girl.
This film was all in black and white and the soundtrack was very limited. The style of the film is what is really cool. The pacing was good too. I'm rating it good for that "undefinable something" that makes movies great.

Until the End of the World (1991)

A drama by Wim Wenders.
A small group of people chase eachother around the world until they all meet in Australia. While they are there, a nuclear satellite is destroyed and they believe that they are the only ones left on earth.
This is actually a trilogy of parts, so it's very long. The female lead is very attractive regardless of her hair color (which changes sometimes) and there are a few male main characters, one of which is Sam Neill. The plot is a meandering series of events that seems a little "thrown together". Overall, it's not too shabby. I'm rating it worthy.

The American Friend (1977)

A mystery directed by Wim Wenders.
A frame shop owner who is terminally ill is persuaded to assassinate 2 men.
The audio was a mix of German and English and subtitles were provided for the German parts. The video was good.
This is one of those films in which all of the characters lie to one another through the whole thing. This makes the plot a little more difficult to follow. I liked the assassination scenes where the target has to be followed or tracked down and an escape has to be made. Overall, it falls exactly in the center of my o.k. range.

wings of desire (1987)

a drama directed by wim wenders
this is a movie about 2 angels. they observe various people for a day until 1 of them decides that he wants to be human. the ex-angel then sells his armor and goes to a goth-punk concert.
most of the video was in black and white, but selected parts were in color. the audio was mostly in german with some english sprinkled through. it was also a full-screen presentation.
it was good, but it left me wondering what was going on besides the very superficial plot that I related above. I guess that's what you get when you watch an art film that you know nothing about.
