A Nymphoid Barbarian in Dinosaur Hell (1990)

An American TROMA fantasy directed by Brett Piper.
A young woman in a post-apocalyptic world is fought over by men around her who kill one another or are eaten by dinosaurs.
I think "basic" describes this best. It was so simple, yet a total failure at its modest goals. It seemed like such a good idea and an easy win, but something went wrong. Almost bad to the point of being funny, but not quite. The writing, casting, acting, camera-work, special effects and editing sucked. There is really no information available about this besides name, date, cast and crew. I imagine that the dinosaurs were a mix of puppets and stop motion. They looked worse than The Lost World (1925). The female lead was on the "Itty Bitty Tittie Committee" and there was so little dialogue that the plot became obscured by lack of speech. I rate this bad and would not recommend it to anyone. You really should not watch it.

Mother's Day (1980)

An American TROMA slasher horror directed by Charles Kaufman.
Three young women go camping and are attacked by deranged hillbillies.
For most of this, I was thinking "This is why I don't watch TROMA". 10 minutes before the end, that changed. It became worthwhile because of a plot twist (I won't spoil that). It almost needs 2 separate reviews for the fist hour and 20 minutes and then the last 10. Most of it was poorly written, acted, shot and edited, but then the change happened. My main thought is that this plot twist should have happened earlier. That would have made this a great film and totally worth watching. Because it cannot be changed now, I rate it poor. My only recommendation would be to see if you can find the ending on youtube and just watch that.

Monster in the Closet (1986)

An American comedy horror directed by Bob Dahlin.
A monster that comes out of closets is killing people. A group of folks try to stop it.
The simple plot and characters were pretty standard issue for the mid-80s. The style was a little bit better than the usual TROMA film because it was distributed by them, not made by them. This meant better acting and camera-work that doesn't look like a home movie shot by someone's dad who just got his first camcorder. The monster looked really cool and had a queen alien style mouth on an extension inside it's mouth. There's a section on wikipedia talking about the monster being gay, but it wasn't made clear. There was definitely something going on with the monster being attracted to people and choosing it's victims though. As far as cheesy horror goes, this wasn't too bad. I rate it o.k.

The Werewolf of Washington (1973)

An American horror comedy written, directed and edited by Milton Moses Ginsberg.
A journalist is sent to Budapest, Hungary at his request where he is bitten by a werewolf. Upon his return to Washington, he tries to warn his co-workers about this and is ignored.
It seemed low-budget and TROMAish, but there were some good things about it. The camera-work was great and they used focus and depth of field very effectively. The plot was very clear and most of the characters fit into it nicely. There was a midget doctor who was in the basement of the pentagon, working on a Frankenstein who didn't really fit into the plot. If I was making this, I would have included an Urotsukidoji style sex scene with the president's daughter and the transformed werewolf. The female "black panther" character definitely dressed to earn female anatomy points! The sitcomness of the humor being everyone ignoring the main character's warnings got old fast and wasn't very funny. I rate this o.k. and I think that it is meant to be mocked.

Mister Scarface (1976)

An Italian crime film directed by Fernando Di Leo, distributed by Troma.
A low level loan collector in an organized crime group teams up with a friend to defeat the boss of their organization.
I don't usually like crime films or Troma films, but this one was alright. The plot was interesting and I liked the characters. It was clearly presented and had some style. The only criticism that I have is that the soundtrack was a little bit annoying at times. During the ending action scene, there was a clicking sound that got old fast and stayed around too long. I'm rating this adequate.

Fist of Fear Touch of Death (1980)

An American kung fu film directed by Matthew Mallinson, released by Troma.
Legends of Bruce Lee are told and a martial arts competition is held to supposedly determine who will take his place. Most of the Lee Legends revolve around his grandfather who was a martial arts expert as well.
Is there such a thing as a Chinese samurai? No. However, the clips of this impossible character are awesome and he displays every type of kung fu magic and Hong Kong wire trick available. I found the film humorous as the narrator looks like the founder of the Church of Satan, Anton Szandor LaVey. The Aaron Banks character who knows so much about Bruce is obviously portrayed as his murderer and every other element of the film is obviously a joke. That being said, most of it was filler trash with some kung-funtasy sequences thrown in (Grandfather Lee) so I rate it poor.

Combat Shock (1986)

A TROMA film by Buddy Giovinazzo.
A Vietnam veteran has a wife and a mutant child, but nothing else. He receives a notice that he will be kicked out of his apartment and walks the streets all day.
TROMA sucks. It's the truth. Whenever I accidentally watch a TROMA film, I wish for the past hour or so of my life back. This one is no different. The plot and characters are terrible, the acting is crappy, but the production value is the worst part. They look like they were filmed on some dude's VHS camcorder. I'm not only rating this TROMA film shit, but ALL other films from this company. Suck my cock, eat shit, and die, TROMA!
