An American animated fantasy adventure by Ralph Bakshi and Frank Frazetta.
Due to a North/South war between regular folks in the south and ice magicians in the north, a southern princess is captured, rescued, recaptured and re-rescued as southern warriors fight off northern warriors on their way to battle the ice wizards.
Ralph Bakshi is amazing and Frank Frazetta's artwork is awesome. They must have been thinking "If we work together and rotoscope the animation, that would be brilliant!", right? Nope. Mediocre was the outcome. It's like mixing bright yellow and purple paint: each part is great, but they make muddy brown when they get together. Enough talking shit about my favorite artists. What was good? I liked the pencil drawings in the intro and female anatomy points were not at a shortage. Teegra's rotoscoped boobs moved very naturally. There were some monsters like a giant lizard and wild dogs/wolves that I couldn't tell if they were composited and rotoscoped or just plain animated. The music/soundtrack was kind of epic. Don't get me wrong, there were some good elements to this film. However, as a whole, it was sub-par and standard. I rate it o.k. Watch it, but don't expect any magic.
In ancient Egyptian mythology, a dead person's soul would be weighed against the feather of truth in a ritual called a psychostasy. If their soul was lighter than the feather, it would ascend into the afterlife. Heavy souls were devoured by Maat, eater of the dead. Good films go to hard drive heaven while the recycle bin eats the rest.

Waking Life (2001)

A animated film directed by Richard Linklater.
A young man in a dream talks to various people about psychology, politics and existence.
The animation technique used in this film is called rotoscoping, in which animators trace the live action film frame by frame. The end result is as beautiful as it is mysterious. I really think that the main character looks like me. I had that hairstyle when I was about his age and he talks and acts like me too. [research happens] His name is Wiley Wiggins and I've included a picture. It turns out that he's 25 in the film and when I had the hairstyle, I was about 19-20. Wiley was also in Dazed and Confused. Now for the scary part... Due to my experiences with dissociative drugs, I have a close and personal relationship with the feeling of death. Whether it's impending doom, "I'm dying now!" or the feeling of having already died, the supposed similarity is brought up a notch. Not only that, but when these chemicals were acting in my brain, my vision became very close to what you see on the screen in this movie. Between the animation style, the deep subject matter and my perceived similarities to the main character, I can't rate it any less than best.
