For Keeps (1988)

An American romance directed by John G. Avildsen, starring Molly Ringwald.
A high school girl gets pregnant and wants to marry her boyfriend, keep the baby and go to college. The parents of the girl and her boyfriend disagree about what should be done.
Forgettable. David Nusair said it was "about as compelling as an afterschool special". I did not care about the plot or characters and was waiting the whole time for something to actually happen. It looked and sounded alright, but held my attention like a razor blades wrapped in tissue paper. I wish I had not watched it, but if I've resigned myself to watching the worst films ever, I must watch them. I rate this bad for being an uninteresting line of cliches. Don't watch it.

The Stand (1994)

An adventure directed by Mick Garris, written by Stephen King, starring Molly Ringwald and Rob Lowe.
A military designed super-flu kills most people in America. The few survivors who are immune have dreams about an old black woman and a dark man. Each of these characters draws survivors to them. Seriously, it's just to complex to sum up in a paragraph.
I had just finished reading the book when I watched the film. Obviously, the book is better and the film had some serious changes. I was going to catalog these differences, but that would not be practical. Some of the changes were small and didn't really matter all that much. Some of the changes were huge (like missing characters or whole scenes) and did matter. No book has ever been translated perfectly onto film and I didn't expect this one to be. They got it relatively close and at just over 6 hours, I think they did the best they could. I'm rating it adequate.

The Breakfast Club (1985)

A comedy drama by John Hughes, starring Molly Ringwald and Emilio Estevez.
A group of 5 students spend a Saturday in school detention and get to know each other better than they would have otherwise.
The beginning of this film is funny and interesting. The characters are all stereotypically unique and everything seems to be coming together to make a great film. About half way through, the movie takes a dive into the crap zone and all of the characters become more similar. By the end, everyone is friends and they have all lost their defining characteristics. By the last scene where they walk out of the school, romantic relationships have mysteriously formed for all but one of the students and this ending makes me want to flush the film down the toilet. Yes, I can rate a film like this in the way I have. It's my fucking blog.

The Pick-up Artist (1987)

A romance by James Toback, starring Molly Ringwald and Robert Downey Jr.
A young man who tries to pick up every girl he sees meets a girl that he really likes, but her life is more of a mess than his.
This film reminds me of someone I know. Besides that, the characters and plot were stale and it just wasn't interesting. It may just be the subject matter, but I'm rating it poor.

Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone (1983)

A science fiction directed by Lamont Johnson.
A captain of a space ship responds to a distress call involving 3 earth women who have crashed on a planet and a large reward. Once there, he is befriended by a vagrant girl who joins him on the mission.
The audio was terrible, the video was good.
check out: Molly Ringwald in a very annoying role.
This is pretty standard cheesy sci-fi. The obstacle course toward the end was cool, but otherwise, nothing really stood out. If you like cheesy 80s sci-fi, you'll probably get a kick out of this one. I thought it was o.k.
