An American horror by Rob Zombie, starring Meg Foster, Richard Brake, Judy Geeson and Malcolm McDowell.
A group of traveling circus workers are abducted in a desert. Their captors force them into playing a game in which they must survive in a maze for 12 hours while hired murderers try to kill them.
Very very Rob Zombie. The plot was typical of the horror/gore/slasher genre and the characters were not really anything special or different. They definitely were not developed well. Does Richard Brake (image) look like a young Billy Bob Thornton? What was developed was sick humor, tension and blood. I think that should be obvious and expected of Rob Zombie at this point. Video was great. There was a variety of shot angles, proximities and lengths. Audio was good, except some whispering. It seems kind of weird that Rob Zombie (metal musician) would use mostly classic hard rock in his soundtracks, but maybe he grew up listening to it like most metal guys. If you like Rob Zombie films, you will like this. Just don't expect anything different from his other films. I rate it adequate for being well made and enjoyable, but predictable.
In ancient Egyptian mythology, a dead person's soul would be weighed against the feather of truth in a ritual called a psychostasy. If their soul was lighter than the feather, it would ascend into the afterlife. Heavy souls were devoured by Maat, eater of the dead. Good films go to hard drive heaven while the recycle bin eats the rest.

Oblivion (1994)
An American science fiction western directed by Sam Irvin, starring Andrew Divoff, Julie Newmar, Isaac Hayes and Meg Foster.
An alien criminal is trying to take over a town after he kills the sheriff. The sheriff's son has been prospecting gold and meets a Native American. He saves this man's life and they are told by the undertaker of the town what has happened. The son returns with his new friend, frees the cyborg deputy and fights the criminal.
Notice the images. These little monsters were the best part of the film. On anyone else's blog, you would expect an image of the giant "nightscorp", but not here. The plot was trite, but the characters were likeable. It was all very Full Moon. The sequel, Backlash (1996) is much more difficult to find. I decided to watch the first one and get the sequel if I liked it enough. I don't think that would be worthwhile. I rate this o.k. because it's just another cheesy Full Moon science fiction and there are plenty more of those to watch.

The Lords of Salem (2012)
An American horror written and directed by Rob Zombie, starring Bruce Davison, Ken Foree, Dee Wallace and Meg Foster.
A disc jockey is Salem, Massachusetts is abducted by a coven of witches to bear the son of Satan. Her co-workers and a history researcher try to save her.
This was pretty cool. I liked the lighting and camera-work most, but that's later. The plot was a Rosemary's Baby knock-off. The characters varied from alright to good. Lighting was amazing. There were dark scenes, but I could still see everything quite well. Framing of shots seemed a little center-oriented, but was still amazing and the camera movements happened at the right times, right places and in the correct directions. Audio was pretty good. There were some grating sounds, but those were obviously intentional. I could hear all of the dialogue too. Overall, a good film for horror fans and those who enjoy Rob Zombie's work. Apparently, I have reviewed none of it, so it will be on the way. I rate this awesome. Watch it!
