Nancy (2018)

An American drama directed by Christina Choe, starring Ann Dowd, Steve Buscemi and John Leguizamo.
A compulsive liar with a sick mother pretends to be pregnant. When a man she meets finds that she is not pregnant, he dismisses her. Her mother then dies and she pretends to be the missing daughter of an elderly couple.
Sparse, slow and inconclusive. The plot rambled aimlessly along the main character's path of lies. The characters were not developed at all. Cinematography looked good, but it was as sparse as the plot. There was lots of empty space in the framing and composition. The audio was terrible because dialogue was mixed so low that I could barely hear it. I just can't figure out why anyone would want to make or watch a movie like this. Apparently, other critics think it's great. I rate it bad. Do not watch!

Summer of Sam (1999)

An American drama directed and produced by Spike Lee, starring John Leguizamo, Adrien Brody and Anthony LaPaglia.
During the summer that the "son of Sam" killer was at large in New York City, a fictional drama plays out between friends and family members of Italian mob drug dealers.
This really needed a different name. It was NOT about the murderer. It was about a punk rock male stripper and his mobster friend who cheats on his wife. I don't see how they couldn't have gotten along better. They both have secrets. The video style was very Spike Lee. We had the gliding/floating character, close-ups, fast edits and even a camera spin. The audio was terrible. The dynamic range of the characters' voices included inaudible whispers and loud shouting. I had been thinking recently "what if Spike Lee did a film with an all-white cast?" and then here it is. I thought the casting was really bad though. Adrien Brody as a punk rocker? That would be like Samuel L. Jackson as a kindergarten teacher. Overall, not really what I like and it had some technical issues. I rate this poor.

The Happening (2008)

A science fiction thriller by M Night Shyamalan, starring Mark Wahlberg and John Leguizamo.
A mysterious disease strikes large populations of humans and moves on to smaller populations. The people infected by this kill themselves.
This was over-produced and stupid actions were taken by the characters. Typical for 2000+ cinema. I didn't like the main character and thought that the plot was dumb. There was little entertainment value to be had, as I kept commenting to myself "SO STUPID!". I have to rate this bad.

Collateral Damage (2002)

an action film directed by Andrew Davis, starring Arnold Schwarzennegger and John Leguizamo.
A fireman's wife and son are killed in a terrace attack and he goes to South America in search of revenge.
Arnold Schwarzenegger's accent makes all of his movies good. I'm always entertained by a thick, but coherent accent. The rest of the flick was a total mind control piece. We're supposed to believe that these South Americans want to attack the CIA in America and are capable of doing so on their own? Give me a break! They're funded by the CIA, so why cut off the money supply? The CIA tells them to do this type of stuff so that they can take American freedom away in order to ensure "security" from "terrace" attacks. Yeah, I'm making fun of the way out nation's politicians say the word "terrorist". Arnold Schwarzenegger (last name translation in German = Blacknigger) earned this film a good rating, but without him, it would have been shit for brainwashing. Blacknigger there makes it a comedy.

To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar (1995)

A drama directed by Beeban Kidron, starring Patrick Swayze, John Leguizamo and Wesley Snipes.
A trio of drag queens heading for Hollywood in an old car get stuck in a small town.
The characters were decent, but the plot was stereotypical. The pace was quick and I almost liked the style. The whole drag queen film deal is not a bad idea, but this doesn't hold a candle to The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. I'm rating this adequate because I liked watching it, but wouldn't go for it again.

Romeo + Juliet (1996)

A drama directed by Baz Luhrmann, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Claire Daines and John Leguizamo.
A boy and a girl from feuding families fall in love. The boy's friends save him and try to help the 2, but something goes wrong.
This is a very modern adaptation of the old Shakespeare play. The characters and plot are good, but I found the presentation lacking. The modern world does not seem to mix well with Shakespeare. They stayed pretty true to the original script, but I suspect that some things were changed. I'm rating this adequate because the source material was good, but it was over-produced.

Spun (2002)

A comedy drama directed by Jonas Akerlund, starring Jason Schwartzman, Mickey Rourke, John Leguizamo, Rob Halford and Debbie Harry.
A meth addict gets a job driving the chemist around town to pick up supplies and leaves a stripper tied to his bed the entire time.
Some drug films like How High or Pineapple Express are so stupid, but this one is actually good. It may have something to do with the drugs involved, as Blow wasn't exactly a flop. The deciding factor in this may be stimulants as opposed to cannabis. The characters and plot are very good and there is an acoustic Iron Maiden cover in the soundtrack. Jason Schwartzman is the guy from I Heart Huckabees and I think he's a good actor. I'm rating this green because it's that solid, green type of movie that there should be more of.
