Hurry Sundown (1967)

An American drama directed by Otto Preminger, starring Michael Caine, Jane Fonda, Faye Dunaway, Burgess Meredith, George Kennedy and Jim Backus.
Neighboring white and black farmers unite against a rich man's family trying to buy their land.
I didn't think this was so bad, but critics found it stupid, heavy-handed and coarse. My favorite quote was from Channel 4 "Preminger wears a liberal heart on his sleeve and then blows his nose on it". I liked that the poor farmers banded together against the rich land grabber, but that came after countless racist and sexist scenes. Filming was a nightmare because locals disagreed with desegregation and attacked the cast and crew on multiple occasions. I thought that the audio and video were both good. Panavision Technicolor is my favorite type of film because of the contrast, saturation and heavy grain. I'm boviously biased and unashamed. The plot and characters held my attention. I rate it adequate because I kind of liked it. You may want to watch it.

Georgia Rule (2007)

A drama directed by Garry Marshall, starring Jane Fonda and Lindsay Lohan.
A mother sends her uncontrollable daughter to live with the strict grandmother, only to return and live there too. Meanwhile, the daughter is making accusations that her step-father had sex with her and the mother has a drinking problem.
I'm reminded of Black Snake Moan by the premise of this film (slut in the country wants to have sex with every man she meets). This one involved far more family dynamics and doubt over who was telling the truth. The characters were stereotypical in contrast to the complex plot. The style and production value both screamed "new movie". I'm rating it poor because I just didn't like it.

Barbarella (1968)

A science fiction directed by Roger Vadim, starring Jane Fonda.
A space-woman goes to a planet in search of a man from earth. When she gets there, she encounters a mess.
The soundtrack and innuendo made this a classic. The plot is the cheesiest I've ever seen and the characters were even cheesier. Come on, a character named Duran Duran? It may not have been a joke then, but it's a joke now! I'm doing so partly out of spite, but this gets an awesome rating. The spite part is useless though, because the target does not read my blog.
