An American drama directed by Frank Capra.A newspaper woman gets "downsized" and before leaving, writes an article about a man who is upset with the state of things and is going to commit suicide. Her article is a hit and she manages to keep her job. The newspaper finds a man to pretend to be the writer of the letter and he becomes a celebrity. As he pretends to lead this movement, he realizes that he believes in it.The plot and characters were great. If this had really happened in 1941, the world would not be in such a state as it is now. The production value was decent for the '40s. If you're into anti-new world order, anti-masonry and anti-illuminati reading material or speakers and documentaries, this would be a good one to watch. You can even download it for free because it's public domain. Traffic it to everyone and let's start our own "John Doe" clubs. I'm rating it awesome.
A drama directed by Frank Capra.A guardian angel is shown the life of the man who he is assigned to save. The man has plans to go see the world, but every time, just before he is about to leave, something happens that keeps him in the town that he grew up in. He bends over backwards to help people and keep his father's business open. This is one of those films that I always heard was a classic and always avoided like the plague because of that. I had had too many classic disappointments like Ben Hur and Gone with the Wind. I figured that I would write a scathing review and tear this one a new arsehole, but it's not happening that way. I liked it. The plot and characters were great and there was style to spare. The pacing was dead on and I actually enjoyed watching it. This film gets an awesome rating and deserves every bit of it's notoriety.
A comedy directed by Frank Capra.A man who is about to go on his honeymoon visits his aunts before he leaves. He finds that they are killing men and his brother (who thinks he is president Roosevelt) buries them in the basement. The shit really hits the fan when his other brother, a convicted felon, shows up with his assistant. The police and the people from a local sanitarium show up and everything becomes a big mess.I thought this was quite amusing. It's a breath of fresh air compared to modern comedies with their stupidity and sex jokes. All the actors play their parts very well and the camera-work plays a very small role. If you like modern comedy, stay away from this! Please excuse me for giving so many films good ratings so close together. Either I'm going soft in the head, or I just got a batch of good films.
A drama directed by Frank Capra.A rich woman runs away from her family and joins up with a regular traveler. As they make their way towards New York, her family searches for her and the relationship between the 2 travelers deepens. This is a perfect example of what I mean by plot, setting and characters value. For fuck's sake, it's made in 1934, but it's a damn good film. The story is told very well and without any Hollywood bullshit. Mock me if you wish, but I know a good movie when I see one. That's why I'm running this film blog and you're not!
