9 Songs (2004)

A British erotic musical romance directed by Michael Winterbottom.
A climatologist in Antarctica remembers a relationship with a woman and the concerts they saw. In actual fact, the have sex and watch alternative rock bands.
Vapid, boring, repetitive. The movie is just like the music. She sucks him off and then the alt rock band just plain sucks. This happens about 9 times. A few rare snippets of Antarctica are thrown in and the cinematography is amazing. I liked the close-up of this (image) ice being cut more than the rest of the film put together. In fact, I would rather have watched a few seconds of cutting ice than the whole hour and 6 minutes. I have to admit that the sex scenes were expertly filmed and the audio quality of the concerts was good, even though the content was not. I rate this bad for technical perfection on some of the worst content I've seen in a while. Don't watch it.

In the Realm of the Senses A.K.A. L'Empire des sens, Ai no korīda, Corrida of Love, 愛のコリーダ (1976)

A French Japanese erotic drama directed by Nagisa Oshima.
A married man and his mistress meet in hotels to have sex for long periods of time. Things take a strange turn when erotic asphyxiation is added to their activities.
What Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998) did with drugs, this did with sex. Although, these people weren't acting most of the time. They were really doing it. The camera-work looked good, but I was mostly distracted by what the actors were doing. There were a few too many dick shots for my taste though. All through the duration, Sada is threatening to kill Kichi or cut off his wang. Unfortunately for her, that would exterminate her only form of entertainment. She doesn't realize this. The audio was good and subtitles I got were on time. I rate this a strange pink rating because I'm glad I saw it, but wouldn't watch it again. I need something more from a movie than sex sex sex, but it was made quite well.

Cinderella A.K.A. The Other Cinderella (1977)

An American erotic musical comedy directed by Michael Pataki and produced by Charles Band.
An altered re-telling of the Cinderella story.
I found this to be lewdly funny. Some of my favorite alterations were the fairy godmother being a black man and the prince looking for the girl whose pussy fit correctly. The fairy godmother's magic wand is something that must be seen in action to be appreciated. The video style looked very much like Charles Banmd's later work with Subspecies and Puppet Master. The acting and singing seemed second rate, with the main focus being on nudity and prurient jokes. I'm not writing about this because I have much to say, but because of the strange combination of genres. I rate it adequate.

99 Women A.K.A. Der heiße Tod (1969)

A Liechtenstein West German Spanish Italian British erotic adventure directed by Jesus Franco, starring Maria Schell, Mercedes McCambridge, Luciana Paluzzi and Herbert Lom.
Women are kept in a prison where the warden and governor abuse them. A man from a male prison on the same island contacts one of the women and organizes an escape attempt.
Sex on sex. Prison sex, jungle sex, etc... The plot was interesting and held my attention around the sex scenes. The characters were a little shallow, but easily identifiable. The sex was graphic, showing closeups of penetration. It involved heterosexual intercourse as well as lesbian scenes. The video was done quite well. There was a good mix of straight forward storytelling and artsy shots, even if some of these were prurient. The audio of the version that I watched was French, but the English subtitles were correct and on time. There was a variety of soundtrack music from classical to psychedelic rock. Overall, a decent flick if you like closeups of copulation. I rate it o.k.

Venus in Furs A.K.A. Paroxismus - Può una morta rivivere per amore?, Schwarzer Engel (1969)

An Italian West German erotic thriller directed by Jesus Franco, starring Klaus Kinski and Dennis Price.
A jazz trumpet player meets a woman who is supposed to be dead. Although he is already in a relationship with the female vocalist of his band, he pursues the new woman and finds that she is involved in fetishistic S&M activities.
This was about what I was expecting as a Jesus Franco film. The plot was unclear, seemingly on purpose. It is only at the very end that the truth of what has been happening is revealed. The characters were on the shallow side, but acted pretty decently. Their dialogue reflected the era and culture with correct use of slang terms. The video featured lots of odd and experimental shots and scenes. This started right from the beginning with the motionless actress smoking and some type of tower in a handheld shot. It continued into the ending climax with heavy color manipulation during a chase scene. There was a scene of the main character running on the beach in slow motion that was very jarring, jerky and looked poor quality. As with most of Franco's films, there was some partial female nudity. The actresses were clearly selected for these scenes. The audio was actually not to shabby. The soundtrack was accurate to time and culture and the dialogue was mostly clear and at a good level in the mix. Overall, be prepared to not know what's going on until the end. I rate this o.k. because it tried some groovy techniques, but could have been produced better.

The Curious Female A.K.A. Curious Females (1970)

An American erotic science fiction directed by Paul Rapp.
In a future controlled by a "Master Computer", morals are very different and sexuality is far more open. A group of people meet to view illegal old films.
This was more about the film being shown to the group than anything happening in this "future". There were momentary sections interspersed of the future group commenting on the film. What they watched was called 3 Virgins and followed the adventures of 3 young women in 1969 who were the only female virgins in their area. The style was definitely '60s and '70s psychedelic. The plot, characters and basically eveything else took a back seat to female anatomy points. The virgins did look pretty good. I'm rating this o.k. because I require more out of a film than just boobs. It wasn't bad, but was definitely not good.
