An American romantic comedy mystery directed by Elliott Nugent, starring Bob Hope, Dorothy Lamour, Lon Chaney Jr. and Bing Crosby.
A timid photographer has an office next to that of a private eye detective. The detective leaves on business and a woman thinks that the photographer is the detective when she meets him in the office. The woman drags the photographer into a complex plot involving dangerous men.
I had to turn it off at an hour and 8 minutes because I couldn't watch another 20 minutes of this stupidity. The style and production were a little older looking than the '47 date, but there weren't any real technical mistakes in the film. The editing was good and the pacing kept things moving. I just got really tired of plot twists, the web of intrigue and the stupid, timid photographer being fooled by everyone he meets. An hour and 27 minutes is exceedingly long for me to pay attention to an old film of a genre that I dislike. I have to rate it shit because I turned it off.
In ancient Egyptian mythology, a dead person's soul would be weighed against the feather of truth in a ritual called a psychostasy. If their soul was lighter than the feather, it would ascend into the afterlife. Heavy souls were devoured by Maat, eater of the dead. Good films go to hard drive heaven while the recycle bin eats the rest.

My Outlaw Brother (1951)
A Mexican American western directed by Elliott Nugent, starring Mickey Rooney.
The younger of 2 brothers searches for his elder sibling in Mexico, where he supposedly owns a silver mine. Come to find out, the older brother is an outlaw. A ranger teams up with the younger brother to capture the older without being killed by him and save the woman the outlaw has selected to marry.
The only thing that I agree with is the younger brother complaining about having bad luck with women and always getting the big ones. He refers to them as whales and I can sympathize. The rest of the movie sucked pretty bad. Mickey Rooney is too much of a pansy to be in a western and the plot wasn't all that great. What it really lacked was style. What I mean by this is that you could turn the film on at any point in it's duration and even if you've seen it, not be able to identify it. I'm rating this bad, but no hard feelings. It's just another bit of the rough that I have to pass in my search for diamonds.
