9 1/2 weeks (1986)

An American romance directed by Adrian Lyne, starring Mickey Rourke and Kim Basinger.
A woman who works at an art gallery falls in love with a man wearing a long coat.
I had to turn this off, mostly because the audio was bad on the copy I got. Besides that, I don't like romance (or war) and the pacing was dreadfully slow. Mickey Rourke looked like Christian Slater when he was young. I really prefer him in Spun (2002) and Sin City (2005). If it's romance or war and I can't hear it, I'm not watching it. In accordance with my resurrected turnoff policy, I rate this shit. Do not watch!

Jacob's Ladder (1990)

A thriller directed by Adrian Lyne.
A soldier in Vietnam is with his group when they are attacked. They all freak out and he gets stabbed. He goes home after he is rescued and gets married and has kids. One of the kids dies and the wife kicks him out for some reason that isn't mentioned. He gets a new girlfriend and begins having mental problems.
This is one of the films mentioned when people talk about good movies. I believe that the reason is all about the style and pacing. It's got this really unique "flavor" to it. The characters and plot are good and the ending is a surprise. I'm rating this awesome for being different.

Foxes (1980)

A drama directed by Adrian Lyne, starring Jodie Foster.
A group of teenage girls have misadventures.
This film is very well made and the style is really good. The plot and characters were somewhat lacking. Every teen cliche is used, from the loss of virginity to problems with drugs. I'm rating this o.k.

Fatal Attraction (1987)

A drama directed by Adrian Lyne.
A man has an affair while his wife is away and the woman gets too attached to him. When the wife comes back, the woman keeps calling and trying to talk to the man. He tells her to go away and she escalates the situation to dangerous levels.
This film looked very 87 and the setting and pacing of the film reflect that time period as well. The daughter looks like a boy and I didn't find the woman from the affair to be as attractive as the main character (age reasons). The 87-ness of the film was great, but the plot was not my cup of tea. I'm rating it o.k.
