One Night in the Tropics (1940)

An American musical romantic comedy directed by A. Edward Sutherland, starring Robert Cummings and William Frawley.
A man has been dating 2 women and wants to marry 1, but the other won't leave him alone.
Wretched, vile and loathsome. Lots of movies were like this in the early 1940s, but this is not what I ordered. I've been watching Abbott and Costello films and this is their debut, but it's not about them. It's about some other people and they just happen to be around. The plot held my attention like a fork holds water and I hated the characters. Far beyond not caring what happens to them, I wanted bad things to happen to them. I think there was too much musical for it to be a comedy and that it was trying to be too many things. I rate this shit because I had to turn it off. I will be back soon with my complete review of Abbott and Costello's like 25 or something movies.

Flying Deuces A.K.A. Flying Aces (1939)

An American comedy directed by A. Edward Sutherland, starring Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy.
A man tries to get a woman to marry him. When she declines the offer, he brings his friend to a river to drown themselves. A policeman sees this and convinces them to join the foreign legion.
The physical comedy wasn't very funny, but it wasn't a bad film. The plot and characters were clear and I could see and hear everything just fine. The style reminded me of Abbott and Costello for obvious reasons. There was a joke that I did get in which Laurel plays the strings of a cot as if it were a harp. I'm rating this adequate and would recommend it if you don't really care what you're watching.

Mr. Robinson Crusoe (1932)

An American drama directed by A. Edward Sutherland, starring Douglas Fairbanks.
A man on a boat makes a bet with his friends on whether he can live on an island until they return.
This is what's known as worthless drivel. Static characters and a threadbare plot make an hour and ten minutes seem like a long time. I really disliked the main character and thought that his work in other films with less dialogue was far superior. I don't feel the need to drag this out. I rate it bad.
