An American western directed by Joseph Kane, starring Roy Rogers, Smiley Burnette, Trigger and John Carradine.
A newspaper woman and her secretary are sent by her boss to marry an unknown and wealthy man who owns land in the country in order to get a "hot story". When they arrive, they find that the man is corrupt and she befriends a singing cowboy, with the secretary befriending the cowboy's sidekick. Together, the team work to expose the corrupt businessman and his gang and secure land raights to allow a railroad to be built.
The complex plot was clearly communicated and most of the characters were easily identifiable. The pacing was really fast to fit all of this into 53 minutes and the style was standard for '40s westerns. The audio and video were decent and clear enough to not cause problems. There were some really good action scenes involving men, horses, wagons and cars in which I noticed good camera-work. Overall, not too shabby. I rate it o.k.

A group of people try to explore the deep ocean in a diving bell, but get cut off from their surface contact. After the mishap with the bell, they don scuba gear and swim into a network of caves that are supplied with air by a volcano.
The lackluster plot and "B" acting made this generally uninteresting. It looked and sounded older than '58 to me, so we've got poor production value as well. I know what crappy movies are and don't feel the need to get verbose about it. I rate this bad for being poorly made and boring. Don't watch it.
An American action adventure directed by Rowland V. Lee, starring John Carradine.
A pirate poses as the captain of a regular ship in order to be sent out on a diplomatic escort mission. He recruits a crew from a pirate jail, along with a nobleman who is totally out of his element. As soon as the ship sets sail, the captain begins killing off those who he views as adversaries.
At least this kept my attention. The plot and characters were good and the costumes were awesome. It was very clearly presented, although there were some spots where the audio got a little on the lo-fi side. I saw a lot of Jack Sparrow (Pirates of the Caribbean) in Captain Kidd's mannerisms. If you're looking for an old public domain movie that is watchable, this would be a good one to check out. I'm rating it adequate.

The audio and video seemed like they were from 1904 rather than '44. The plot was dry and the characters drier; Mummy dry. Being totally devoid of style, this film should have been put out of it's misery sooner because an hour and 10 minutes was too much and I turned it off half way through. I have to rate it shit.
