An animated fantasy directed by Guillaume Ivernel and Arthur Qwak.A pair of dragon hunters meet a runaway princess who is obsessed with fairytales. They go to the princess's uncle's castle where he tells them of the world gobbler dragon and sends them on a quest to defeat it.I usually don't go for CG flicks, but this one is kind of cool. It's not Pixar, which is cool too. The plot and characters are good and the style seems like it was designed to be made into a video game. I may not have been paying attention, but of all the dragons that get defeated, I only saw the fate of one. I'm rating this good because the dragons were cool.
A thriller by Mark Borchardt.A young man is pressured into joining an AA group by a friend. Once he joins, strange things begin to happen.I never thought that that chapter of my life would be chronicled on film. When I joined AA, those fuckers poisoned my drinks too. They all sit around a table at the meetings drinking coffee and when they announce who made the vile brew, everyone says "good coffee...". I'm serious, it's scary. It became apparent that the coffee was the main source of mind control, because when I stopped drinking it, Their brainwashing stopped working on me. Anyway, the movie was all in black and white and was dark and spooky. It was definitely too short because the plot was just taking off when it ended. I'm rating it good for exposing the evils of AA.
A thriller directed by Adam Gierasch.A woman has a miscarriage and moves to an old house in the country with her husband. The house is notorious for murders and disappearances.There wasn't much here to review. The plot was thread-bare and the characters were extremely shallow. There was no style to speak of and the pacing was slow. I'm going to have to rate this bad.
A drama directed by Peter Jackson, starring Kate Winslet.Lesbians meet and fall in love, but the rest of the world disapproves of their relationship.The plot and characters were pretty sparse and the style was minimal. The pace was very slow. The girl with black hair was quite attractive, if I may say so. I'm rating this o.k. for being mediocre.
An animated fantasy directed by Bill Plympton.A man grows a strange nodule on the back of his neck that transmits his imagination into reality.This is STRANGE! If you know my tastes, the more extreme, the better. Give me contemplative and peaceful or LSD + cocaine crazy, but please, nothing in between. The style is weird as hell and the plot follows suit. The animation is a little sketchy, but it works for the best. There are some very graphic scenes depicting sex and violence. I don't want to give too much away, so I'm just going to recommend that you watch this. Best rating.
An action film directed by Mikael Salomon, starring Morgan Freeman and Christian Slater.An armored car is driving out of a small town as it is flooding. The car gets stuck and robbers show up looking for the money. They shoot the driver, but his partner gets away with the money.This film has most of the standard action film traits like too much gunfire and poorly aimed shots. The camera work is too fast for my tastes. There is one thing that sets it apart from other films. Morgan Freeman is the villain. The style was alright and because of Freeman's role, it gets an adequate rating.
A comedy directed by Rob McKittrick.A new employee works his first day at a restaurant.This was actually pretty cool. The restaurant people do all of the things to food that they are rumored to do and their comedic quirks are slightly entertaining. I found myself being mysteriously attracted to the angry waitress for some unknown reason. I liked the plot and characters and the style was good. They used some quick shots flip-flopping between 2 scenes to show that they were happening at the same time. The pacing was very quick. I'm rating this good.
